Heartbreaking,intence,exciting
Once is a powerful story about a child survivor of the Holocaust. Felix has lived a sheltered life for the 4 years since his parents left him at an orphanage in the Polish countryside. He doesn't know it, but we the readers realize they left him there to save his life. Felix's main flaw and greatest strength is that he turns everything that happens to him into a wild story. At first, his eagerness to believe his own tall tales annoyed me. Not only were they silly, but in Nazi occupied Poland they could get him killed! Felix discovers what the Nazis are doing one horrible piece at a time, and he starts to doubt the stories he tells himself. But in the end, his imagination is what allows him to take chances that save his life and a friend's too. Now I need to find the other two books in the series (Then and Now) so I can find out what happens to Felix next!
This book was so amazing! I quickly read it and immediately had to go to the library to get the next two.
Once is such a good book. I really enjoy historical fiction ☺️
Really emotional and it's part of the Now and Then series.
