Natan Sharansky: Freedom fighter for Soviet Jews

Review by bookmonster12

Natan Sharansky: Freedom fighter for Soviet Jews tells the eventful story of Natan Sharansky. Natan, or Anatoly, as he was then, was a great chess player. He had no idea what being Jewish was until his father was falsely arrested. It was really because he was Jewish. As Natan grew up, he discovered what being Jewish meant. He became an activist and tried to emigrate to Israel. Read the book to see if he does! Natan Sharansky: Freedom fighter for Soviet Jews is a great book; short, fast paced, great story. I strongly recommend this book for all interested in the Soviet Union or history.

Natan Sharansky: Freedom Fighter for Soviet Jews

Review by Zemirah

I liked this book, it was a true story about Natan Sharansky. He was persistant and fought for the chance to immigrate to Israel. Based on his success, many Soviet Bloc Jews were then able to make aliyah too! He was brave, determined, and didn't stop even when told "NO!" Many Jews owe their freedom to his hard work! Thank you Natan! You are a mensch!

Great graphic novel

Review by baskenobi

I usually don't lean towards choosing biographies, but I do love graphic novels, and I really enjoyed this one. It's pretty heartbreaking seeing everything Natan has gone through, but I'm glad the world rallied around his cause and ultimately freed him. We need more solidarity like this these days. My only critique is that I wish the book was longer. I was able to finish it in one sitting.
