Excellent Book But Could Use A Bit More Adventure!

Review by teddybear22

"The Adventures of Rabbi Harvey" is a great book. It is full of humor, wisdom, and facts. I love the way that this book mixed in facts with a story. I also like the idea of a graphic novel because you can hide more humor in the pictures. Pictures also help you picture in your head what is happening. Panels can also help you picture action. For example: say Rabbi Harvey was at the very left side of the panel. Then, in the next panel he was in the middle of the panel. That would show that he moved forward. "The Adventures of Rabbi Harvey" had it's bad side though too. First, for a book with the word 'adventures' in it's title this book was not quite as adventurous. Therefore, I say the title is misleading. Second, there are some missed fact opportunities such as: when the rabbi is told "Great story, Harv, just super. Boy, you and wisdom go together just like ham and cheese." I thought about the ending of this sentence - the part about he ham and cheese - for a moment. I never have eaten ham before simply because it is not kosher. What else is not kosher is ham and cheese. Cheese is dairy and ham is meat. What startled me even more was Rabbi Harvey's response. It was: "I'll have to take your word for it." Third, I would like it if this book were one long story or all the stories in order because I got confused of where we are in Rabbi Harvey's life each time I changed stories. For example: when I switched from Rabbi Harvey: Human Scale to There's A New Rabbi In Town, I started to wonder why Rabbi Harvey was not just working in the city like normal but it turns out that this was earlier in his life, before he got his job. I would definitely recommend "The Adventures of Rabbi Harvey" to anyone who likes: humor, graphic novels, and well thought-out stories.

I thought this book was hilarious. It made me laugh out loud! My favorite part was when Rabbi Harvey helped the kid who thought he was a chicken. It was so funny!
