This book talked about a boy that moved to the US. He expected it to be a land of freedom and opportunity. He thought everyone was free to live up to their own potential. But he found out that not everyone is treated equally.

It's very easy to take everything we have for granted (including knowledge of social norms). After reading this book, about an immigrant who doesn't know if his friend is alive or not, has next to nothing, and doesn't know what "normal" people do, I though more about my life in general. Don't get me wrong, though. While this book was certainly thought-provoking in many, many ways, it is also upbeat and happy, mysterious and factual, and so much more! Please read this book! I'm sure you would enjoy it as much as I did!

I like this book because it shows me how unfair it was for some people when the story takes place. It makes me think about how hard it is to be in a whole new country. I would recommend this book to someone who thinks about things that are unfair

I loved this book so much. It reminded me of when my grandparents escaped the Germans in WW2.

I really like this book. I have been waiting for it for a really long time, because it is a continuation of the book, Black Radishes. I don't think it was as exciting as the first book, but I still like it a lot!
