Things That Shimmer by Avery

Review by Avery

THINGS THAT SHIMMER GREAT BOOK FOR TWEENS! Things That Shimmer is a story about connectedness and the value of friendship. Melanie and Vicky have been best friends since they were little. But then, a new girl, Dorit, joins the school, and because of this, Melanie and Vicky slowly drift apart. Vicky joins the popular group, the Shimmers, and Melanie is torn between Dorito and Vicky. She knows no matter who she chooses, she will have something to gain, but more to lose. Fans of Raina Telgemeier will love this intriguing page-turner!

Things That Shimmer by Maya

Review by Maya

Everybody can relate to Things That Shimmer because you probably have had friend drama. The main character, Melanie Adler, wants to be part of the cool kids' group (The Shimmers) but also wants to stay friends with the new girl, Dorit. Melanie tries to hang out with Dorit, but it's hard because her other friend Vicky doesn't think Dorit is cool. Melanie wants to stay friends with Dorit because she can relate to her in many ways, one being both of their parents have been so worried about them because of a traumatic experience. I loved this book because it had a surprising twist at the end.

Loved This Book ❤

Review by Potterfan3178

I really appreciate the author, Deborah Lakritz, for the artistry she wrote this book with. I admit it - I cried. It's a book you won't regret picking. It frustrates you and has you wanting to tell Melanie what to do.

Great twist at end

Review by 2013Gift

I appreciated the book because I try to figure out what is going to happen and I didn't see the twist at the end coming.

A Good Book ... set in the 1970s

Review by FunnyBoy21

I liked the way the book made you think about the 1970s. I think kids will like it and so will old people ... like my mom.
