Evie’s mom is dating the assistant principal, and Evie is stuck tutoring Joey Ceraco. It's true, they used to be friends, but that was before Tommy Halliday. Years ago, when they were all still following the rules.

Trouble Finds Evie Lefkowitz is a hilarious book about a girl whose life is absolutely falling apart. Her mother is dating her assistant principal, and she discovers hanging out with the cool kids isn't as cool as it's made out to be, because straight-A student Evie has somehow earned herself more detentions than she can count. Is there any way Evie can fix this mess, has she gotten into something she can't escape?

Trouble Finds Evie Lefkowitz is an amazing book. As a pre-teen Jewish girl, I can relate to Evie's struggles, friendships and life in general. The characters have great personalities and I love the way the author describes them, Being the cantor's daughter, Evie is connected to Judaism like this. But since her dad died, nothing has been right. Her mom is starting to meet new people, and suddenly she starts dating Evie's assistant principal! Things start to get tough for Evie as she struggles with school bullies, and more importantly, making the right choices. She goes on a wild mantis-freeing chase as she learns what it truly means to be a friend. This book is perfect for people who enjoy realistic fiction and stories about middle school friendship. I would recommend this book to readers aged 10+.
