I loved this book!

This book made me think more about friendship.

One thing that I liked about the book My Basmati Bat Mitzvah is the diverse culture. I liked how the main character Tara has an Indian heritage because of her mom who is from India and is in the Jewish culture because of her dad. I also liked the friendship with Rebbeca and Tara. Also I liked the various twists in the book. One twist was how Ben-o liked Tara but I knew it from the start like how in the beginning he put his arm around her I actually thought they were dating because she was twirling his hair but she was so clueless that he liked her but when she looked in the schedule that he gave her and she looked at valentine day it was a heart next to it she knew at that moment. But to sum it all up this book was AMAZING!!!!!

Amazing 😉 book!!!!!!

This book made me think more about being Jewish.

This book was sooo good! It tells the story of Tara Feinstein, just your average Jewish-Indian-American girl. She is trying to figure out whether or not she will have a bat mitzvah. This book is hilarious but deep at the same time. I HIGHLY recommend it. Everyone keep reading!

Sweet, funny and interesting!

I loved this book!

Awesome, relatable character. It was interesting to learn about another culture. Lots of information, but given in a pleasing, fun way. Perfect amount of romance (just a little), friendship (a lot) and family (also a lot). Overall a great story, pick this book!

Cool book!

My Basmati Bat Mitzvah
Submitted 3/10/2018 by gymnastgirl09

I loved this book!

This book made me think more about friendship.

My Basmati Bat Mitzvah is about a girl of Indian heritage but is a full Jew, which a lot of people don't understand. She is going through a difficult time in her life because she is having doubts in God's existence, and doesn't know that you don't have to believe in God to become a Bat (or Bar) Mitzvah. She is a bit of a tomboy, saying that she's not a fan of dresses, so she wants to wear a traditional sari to her Bat Mitzvah. She also has to deal with her best friend's know-it-all bestie, two annoying boys in her class (who might possibly have a crush on her) and her male Christian best friend who also might be her unbeknownst boyfriend. With all this commotion, My Basmati Bat Mitzvah is a wonderful, captivating (but not confusing) book and I recommend it to anyone who likes learning about Contemporary and modern Jews.

really good and exciting!

This book was just OK

This book made me think more about friendship.

This book was just OK because the thoughts going on inside Tara, the main character's mind are SUPER geeky, but it gets better when (spoiler alert!!!) Sheila Rosenberg adds a twist near the end saying that she hates purple and then becomes friends with Tara. But to wrap it all up, I think that this book was meh, just meh.

BEST book ever!😍

This book was really cool, because I am curious about what it feels like to have a bat mitzvah. I never really thought that anyone would really have any doubts about it. It was also really cool, because it teaches about the meaning of friendship. I really liked this book and hope for more book choices like this!

This book was just OK

This book made me think more about being Jewish.

I really like adventure books so I don't usually read this type of book. To be honest, it was better than I expected it to be. It was not my favorite book, but I think that on a scale from 1-10, 1 being the worst and 10 being the best, I would rate it a six or a seven.

This book was good and all, but the Ben-o drama made me bored. I thought the book was heading in a great direction, but then I read the end. If you are into boy drama with happy endings then this is for you. I think it was ok.

This book was good.

This book made me think more about friendship.

The book is about a girl named Tara. She is half Indian and half Jewish, and she hasn't made up her mind about having a bat mitzvah. On top of that her best friend Ben-o is acting really weird around her. Life is throwing many challenges at Tara.
What is she going to do?

I enjoyed this book.
It is not the best PJ our way book that I have read, but it is pretty good.

I loved this book!

This book taught me more about Jewish holidays, rituals, and even food.

I LOVED My Basmati Bat Mitzvah. It was my favorite book that I've picked! I loved reading about all the struggles Tara went through, from friends, and a cultural object incident. She had to overcome them and that's what I loved. For her Bat Mitzvah, she wanted to have something special.
I just couldn't put this book down. I would totally recommend this to any person!

a good book.

I would read more books by this author.

This book made me think more about the importance of family.

I learned a lot from this book. but what I do not get is that this girls friend stole but then the girl that did not steal tried to do the right thing but then the girl and her friend where not allowed to go to this store until they where 18, I think that since this girl did not steal but was doing the right thing should be able to still go to this store. but since I learned stuff from this book then I am glad that I chose this book.
Thank you PJ our way!

Very good must read!

I loved this book!

Tara Feinstein is an Indian/Jewish/American girl that doesn't know which way to turn. She has trouble deciding if she should have a bat mitzvah, because she doesn't want to betray her grandfather and lose her Indian side. Along with this is mixed in boy troubles and enemies that might just turn into frenemies.

This is a great book for girls 10 and up. Boys might not like it as much, as it is centered around a girl, but it really depends what you like. This book perfectly blends both her Indian and Jewish cultures and the author, Paula J Freedman, uses words that really help me get sucked into the atmosphere of the book. This book is one of my favorite books I got from PJ Our Way!!! I think that pretty much everyone would LOVE this book.

Submitted 12/16/2017 by CorgiGirl

This book taught me what it means to have different cultures that you grow up with. Tara Feinstein, the protagonist, goes through a lot because she is Hindu and Jewish. Her two futures collide, and things are a little crazy at her house. But, she also has some problems—love life troubles! Can she do her bat mitzvah, figure her love life out, and make new friends? If there's one thing this book tells you, it that Tara Feinstein never backs down!

Really Good!

I read this book from my school library. It was pretty good, but not the best. It's about a girl who's Indian and Jewish and wants to have a bat mitzvah, but runs into some problems. It reminded me of The Whole Story of Half a Girl, another PJ Our Way book.

Im not saying its a bad book...

It seems like a good book with a GREAT idea (Indian-Jewish) but the whole Ben-O thing kind of threw it off. It is good though..
